Dr. Joy Malik-Hasbrook, PsyD (she/her), is a licensed pediatric clinical psychologist who helps children feel seen and grownups heal. In her practice, she provides parenting support and neurodiversity-affirming neurodevelopmental assessments.
She presents on parenting, neurodivergence, and nervous system regulation/polyvagal theory in action .
She is biracial of South Asian Indian/white descent, a mama of 2, and a highly sensitive human. She values integrating both Asian contemplative practices and contemporary psychology into her work and is committed to anti-oppressive practices.
Dr. Joy understands how challenges with dysregulation create more distress. She believes that understanding nervous system regulation leads to compassion and resiliency and that all families should have access to this information—her book is a start!

Dr. Joy Malik-Hasbrook is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Los Angeles and Pasadena area who has dedicated the past 15 years to supporting families.
Dr. Joy provides comprehensive neurodevelopmental/psychological assessment services (ages 2-21), parenting support, and speaking and training.
She utilizes a relational and holistic approach that integrates current neuroscience to strengthen well-being and build resiliency. She is known for her warm, caring, and affirming work with children and teens.
Dr. Joy's foundation and theoretical orientations include specialized training in Interpersonal Neurobiology (Immersive Course with Dan Siegel, PhD) and Polyvagal Theory (Deb Dana's Foundations of Polyvagal Informed Practice Certification), Attachment Theory, and Relational Psychodynamic theory.
Previously, she worked for many years in different mental health and multidisciplinary clinics providing services, supervision, and training.
She was the Director of Assessment at the Center for Connection, founded by Tina Payne Bryson. She was the Director of Child and Family Services at Maple Counseling Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Joy also had the privilege to present alongside renowned clinicians at the UCLA Prevention Center of Excellence on “Building a Trauma Responsive & Resilience Strengthening Child Welfare System.”

She is a California native who completed her B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, she earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at CSPP-Alliant International University, San Francisco.
