SHORT BIO:

Dr. Joy is a licensed pediatric clinical psychologist in Pasadena, CA, who has been providing therapeutic services for children and families for close to 20 years. She specializes in all things related to neurodiversity! Dr. Joy provides comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessment, parenting support, and speaking and training. She is the author of A Kids Book About Nervous System Regulation. She is known for her expertise in neurodivergence and her warm, affirming work with children, teens, and families.

Her approach is relational, neurodiversity-affirming, and centered on the whole child. She draws on her expertise in neurodivergence, regulation, and mindfulness to help build resilience. Dr. Joy is biracial of South Asian Indian/white descent. She values integrating both Asian contemplative practices and contemporary psychology into her work. Dr. Joy is committed to implementing anti-oppressive practices. Furthermore, she integrates mindfulness meditation, yogic practices, and compassion into her work with families, daily life, self-care, and as a mom of two children.

LONG BIO:

Dr. Joy Malik-Hasbrook is a licensed clinical pediatric psychologist in the Los Angeles and Pasadena area who has dedicated the past 15 years to supporting families. Dr. Joy provides comprehensive neurodevelopmental/psychological assessment services (ages 2-21), parenting support, and speaking and training. She is the author of the children’s book A Kids Book About Nervous System Regulation. She is known for her expertise in neurodivergence and her warm, affirming work with children, teens, and families.

Dr. Joy’s approach is relational, neurodiversity-affirming, and centered on the whole child. She draws on her expertise in neurodivergence, regulation, and mindfulness to help build resilience

She is biracial of South Asian Indian/white descent. She values integrating both Asian contemplative practices and contemporary psychology into her work. Dr. Joy is committed to implementing anti-oppressive practices. She is a California native who completed her B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, she earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at CSPP-Alliant International University, San Francisco. Her dissertation studied the benefits of yoga as an intervention for children. Furthermore, she integrates mindfulness meditation, yogic practices, and compassion into her work with families, daily life, self-care, and as a mom of two children.
